New Podcast, New Music…Places to Go, Music to Hear
I have to give massive thank you to my new favorite podcast, Academik, for re-introducing me to Paolo Nutini. I knew the sound was vaguely familiar, but didn’t quite know from where until I saw that he’d been at SXSW last year.
Besides being slightly disappointed that our Wedding Mix CD is already set in stone (or rather CD sticker), I don’t think I could possibly listen to ’Last Request’ enough. And ’Jenny Don’t Be Hasty’ is making me giggle (again) given the circumstances surrounding the big move. Hilarious. ![]()
So, number one — get this CD. Number two, subscribe to Academik; not only is our dear host’s commentary interesting and entertaining, but the accent ain’t half bad either. Number three, if you find yourself in Toronto on March 7th for Canadian Music Week, a bunch of us will be over at The Mod Club enjoying Paolo live.

Rachel,
Thanks so much for listening and for promoting great music! As a fellow music lover, any chance I can get my hands on that wedding cd? Are you going to SXSW this year?
All the best,
Academik

Of course, and of course! Are you going to be there (SXSW, that is… ;-))?

Hi I was just wondering how you guys know about SXSW? are you guys from austin?
I’m writing this paper about the image that sxsw has locally, nationally, and internationally, so if you guys would let me know, that would be awesome.

Hey Celina,
I’d be happy to provide feedback — send me an email to the address listed in the above right hand corner, if you’d like more details…but in a nutshell I had a blast last year and am very much looking forward to this year! I’m not from Austin, and I hadn’t been before I got a chance to head down there with my company, MusicIP. Being a part of a booth eliminates the crazy scarcity of wristbands for non-locals…hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Celina you can reach me at me@academik.org; I’m from Dallas but I’ve heard SXSW mentioned all over the place and it’s getting recognition as one of the places to be (heard on BBC1 in London). Unfortunately I won’t be going this year, but maybe in the future!
