Those who know me, know that I’m a bit of a jeans fan. If you don’t, I suggest you peruse my archives. Here and here are good starts.
So when I saw something about Zafu, I couldn’t resist giving it a whirl…
The premise: part of Archetype Solutions, Zafu is here to answer the all important question about what jeans work on who’s body. Answer some questions, they’ll give you some ideas, you buy some jeans. Simple in theory, but I’m pretty picky…
Homepage is nice, interesting design without being cluttered or a big ol’ girlie cliche.
Eight questions later…seven results pop up. Interesting, interesting…I appreciate some, I’m not a big fan of a couple others. Up at the top they give the option for "more choices"…I like this option, but why isn’t there anything about the shade of blue?
Good for them making me sign up to save results; they also don’t keep your results for long - I left the results window open for about 20 minutes and when I came back to it I couldn’t see details about the jeans anymore.
So…I like the premise, but I’m not convinced yet. I don’t think I’d be ordering jeans online (I see that as a must try on…) but I’ll probably check out a couple of the options they gave the next time I’m looking for some new jeans.
If you check it out, don’t miss the "Fits You Well" section (I did the first time).
Also, why no photos of their stellar team on the about page?

I’ve been lucky enough to have my own computer to plop down on my lap for many years already. There’s no denying that the laptop design is useful for it’s portability and flexibility when, say, curling up in a papasan chair for a quiet night of solitaire or celebrity gossip.
Many an essay was concocted during my four years at York on a laptop…I would get fidgety if I sat in one place too long so (laptop in hand), I’d tromp around the house/apartment (depending on the year) in search of just the right spot and position (legs crossed? on the floor? laying down?) where the right words would magically end up on the screen.
Now, I only hang around with my laptop on nights such as this; the couch is comfy, the dining room chairs…not so much…and there’s not room in the apartment for a real desk.
"But wait…" you ask. "Why would you need that? I thought you said you liked lounging around, laptop in…lap."
Well, yes, I do. But not as much as I like having this handy dandy laptop hooked up to a desktop monitor. I’m not saying anything revolutionary here; this guy, and this guy
and this NY Times Guy already know - screen "real estate" counts.
While I don’t have the dual desktop setup, I’m still seeing a significant step forward. I actually did try a similar setup to the one below (from the NY Times article above), but unfortunately my second monitor was a behemoth and my first monitor consisted of my teeny tiny ultra lightweight tablet PC. So, instead of flicking my eyeballs back and forth, my head was bobbing up and down which made my neck hurt…inevitably the ol’ boxy monitor turned into more of a post-it note holder…so it was removed from the desk.
So, I still have a single monitor. But it’s an actual monitor. My new laptop is already easier on the eyes, but with the full side monitor I can spread things out on the screen, have many more windows open without it feeling cluttered, my back isn’t hunched over, and I already notice that I’m working faster and better.
I suggest that each and every person who covets their laptop and thinks there could be no better solution, get thee to the computer store and invest in a decent monitor and some cables…(I can’t tell you which ones…I may adore the new setup but I don’t have to exactly know how to set it up).
Your eyes, and wrists, and neck will thank you. As will your GPA (or boss).
