Am I hard to please? Maybe. But there are some instances where my expectations really aren’t that high…for instance:
When I picked up this box of handy dandy green tea packets, I had two expected outcomes:
1 - that when I shook it up it’d be green
2 - it would taste like green tea
So, when I shook the powder into my water bottle, I was a little surprised to see this:
Red. Cherry Red. That’s right, there’s really nothing "Green" or "Tea" like about this now deformed beverage, other than that it says so on the package, and is associated with the always authoritative Lipton brand. Upon closer inspection, I realized it said "Cherry Blossom" in the corner, had some cherries on the box, and sadly enough that water bottle on the cover is being mutilated into red disgustingness as well.
So, not only am I hard to please, but I’m apparently not so observant.
"Oh, Rachel…who cares if it’s not green or tea like…?" you ask…
Well, I’m not sure if this will be an adequate enough description, but when I dared to take a sip, the taste was something like a tangy, watered down cough syrup. Maybe there’d be a better way of describing that, but unfortunately I’m just not willing to swallow any more of this horribly inadequate drink.
For more information about what I wholeheartedly recommend you *not* purchase, here you go.

After reading way too many magazines, perusing places like theknot for hours on end, it’s nice to see an unconventional doesn’t-matter-because-we’re-in-love crop up in the news.
Not about the flowers. Not about litte wee matchboxes with your names and that big ol’ special day on it. It’s about sharing that day with those you love however you can, the best way you can. Have to make that the focus.
Or risk bridezilla-ville. Or worse.

A new restaurant just opened up in Old Town. It’s nothing too extraordinary, and there’s definitely been very little hoopla. So, when we walked down the street today to find some food, and a woman (presumably the owner…the manager?) was standing in the doorway of this new place to eat, we might have stopped in, right? Yeah, maybe. But they had two hits against them.
1) when I say she was standing in the doorway, I mean standing in the doorway. We’re talking blockade. Make me nervous, feel guilty for glancing at the menu and continue walking guilty. She seemed perfectly kind, had a nice smile, and I’m assuming loves her job. But what should have been an invitation to come in became off putting and weirdly made me walk a little bit faster.
2) a couple other fresh faced waiters walked past us around the corner. This time we got more than a smile; we found out the particulars of this new spot and also received a postcard to remember it by. But the postcard only has the basics - where it’s located, what they specialize in, what makes them unique (art!) and a little photo of the place. But once it’s in my purse, what’s going to make me bring it back out again? Why weren’t they offering us a grand opening discount that night? Why wasn’t there an offer on the postcard so I don’t just chuck it when my bag gets cluttered (okay, more cluttered).
I’m certainly not saying I won’t go there. I probably, maybe…well I could see us being up for Belgian waffles one of these days. But now they’re just like every other restaurant in this area overwhelmed with places to grab a bite. Could have been a different story.
