10 Minutes

Hello Ning.
Yikes, don’t piss off the Google powers that be….buh bye BMW; I can’t wait for the report that comes out in two weeks/months about whether or not this actually had an impact on their sales/hits/whatever.
Too bad. My Creative Commons license is visible though, even if you might have to dig for it.
*Sigh*
Yet another thing I want to post on the side, but seemingly can’t unless I fork over some more money. I want to be searchable by Technorati. Well…
We’ve been debating back and forth the issue of whether or not to construct Globetrotrz from the ground up. Up until about a week ago, the go-ahead had pretty much been given on starting from scratch…seems like the best option right? Then you know your code, you can build it exactly the way you like, etc etc etc.
But, there’s the time. It’s like the difference between baking cookies from scratch and getting that tray of cookie dough pre-separated and ready to just pop in the oven. Times a hundred.
Then there’s all this free code floating around. People are creating it, sharing it with others, and it’s being modified, molded, changed, and used in many different ways. Well, at least, on the extreme end of the scale. There’s also lots out there that is useless and difficult. But the stuff that gets taken up by coders who know what they’re doing and love what they do, it’s pretty darn cool.
But, then there’s the time. Choosing the right starting point is the most important step, otherwise the guys could be working away on something that in the end won’t do what we want it to do.
So, there’s a risk that time will be wasted either way.
Thus far, open source is winning. 4 potential options in less than 15 minutes. A new possibility today that might be "it". It’s these kinds of leaps that make the possibility of getting ‘er up and running before the summer (fingers crossed tightly…) at least a little more feasible.
Oh yeah, and that’s my look of shock and awe as Adam shows off the fourth option.
